Cast Iron Floor Drain Replacement in Carmel (46032)
The old cast iron floor drain next to the furnace had rusted out. Shawn and Jaden broke out the concrete, replaced it with a new PVC floor drain and patched the floor.
The problem
Cast iron floor drains are common in basements and utility rooms in older Carmel homes. Over the years the iron rusts, builds up scale inside and can crack. That leads to slow drainage, sewer smell or water backing up onto the floor.
What we found
Once the concrete around the drain was broken out, the old cast iron drain body was heavily rusted and scaled. It was time to replace it.
What we did
Shawn and Jaden removed the old cast iron drain and set a new PVC floor drain in its place. The furnace's PVC drain lines run into the new drain, and the floor was patched with fresh concrete.
Unlike the old cast iron, the new PVC drain won't rust.
