Power Vent Water Heater Install in Westfield (46074)
Jaden installed a new Bradford White 50-gallon power vent gas water heater for this Westfield home, with an expansion tank, and checked the home's water pressure before leaving.

How a power vent water heater works
A power vent water heater has a fan on top that pushes the exhaust out through PVC pipe. It doesn't need a chimney, so the vent can run sideways to an outside wall. The fan plugs into a standard outlet near the heater.
What went into the install
A Bradford White 50-gallon power vent gas water heater, built in the USA.
PVC exhaust vent connected to the power vent fan on top of the tank.
An expansion tank set at 50 PSI on the cold water line.
Copper hot and cold connections at the top of the tank.
A drain pan with a drain line under the heater.
Water pressure checked
After the install, Jaden checked the home's water pressure. It was good. Pressure that runs too high wears out water heaters, valves and fixtures faster, so we check it on installs.
Thinking about a power vent?
- No chimney, or the old one can't be used
- The heater needs to go somewhere a regular vent can't reach
- You want the vent to go out a side wall
- You smell gas: leave the house and call the gas company first
We'll look at your setup and tell you if a power vent makes sense, or if a standard tank will do.
