Deep Sewer Line Repair in Indianapolis (46218)
Tree roots had badly damaged a 6-inch clay tile sewer line. Shawn and the crew dug it out with a mini excavator, found the line about 8 to 9 feet down, adapted to a solid section of pipe and rebuilt the line.
The problem
Tree roots had gotten into the sewer line, and the damage was bad. Roots are one of the most common reasons older clay tile sewer lines fail: they work in through the joints and keep growing until the line clogs or breaks.
Why the depth was a surprise
We couldn’t get a depth from the city manhole and couldn’t run a camera, so we estimated from where the drain leaves the house. It did come out at about 3 to 4 feet, as expected. Then the line dropped another 4 to 6 feet, so we were digging to roughly 8 to 9 feet to reach the 6-inch clay tile.
What we did
Shawn and the team opened up the yard with the mini excavator and worked down to the line. Shawn found a solid section of the existing pipe to adapt to and rebuilt the sewer line from there.
